I will be traveling alone. Do you have many Chicas traveling solo?

Over half of the women that join us on our surf camps are traveling alone. These trips are the perfect place to meet new friends and enjoy your vacation with Chicas that love to do what you like to do! You are in good hands with us!

If I come alone, can I share a room?

Yes! All of our bungalows and rooms are shared accommodations. If you are traveling solo, we will definitely get you set up with other Chicas to enjoy your trip with!

What is the average age of the women on your surf retreats?

We have women of all ages join us on our surf camps, from age 20-65. The average age is late 20’s to mid 50’s.

Do I need a passport or visa to travel?

For all international locations, you do need a valid passport to travel.That includes all children traveling with you. However, you do not need a Visa. Please check your passport to make sure you have at LEAST 6 months remaining before your passport expires.

Is transportation included?

Airfare is not included in our packages, however we will assist you in selecting the best travel options for your adventure. Please check individual packages to see what ground transportation is included.

I have never surfed before. Is this vacation good for beginners?

All of our surf camps are PERFECT for beginners. Many, if not most of our first time guests, have never touched a surfboard before.

Is the surf camp only for beginners or advanced surfers?

We provide surf instruction for beginner, intermediate and advanced surfers. All of our locations have waves for a variety of skill levels.

Do I need to be a great swimmer?

You do not need to be a great swimmer, but we do require that you feel comfortable in the water. Most of our beginner surf lessons are in shallow white water where you can still stand.

Physical Requirements

All participants are required to be able to swim unassisted for all water related activities, including but not limited to surfing, stand up paddle boarding, or during any boat transportation. This includes all children as well. If a Chica Surf guest is not a proficient swimmer, a life jacket will be required to participate in all water related adventures. It is highly recommended that participants be in good physical condition and are required to disclose any injuries, or pre existing conditions prior to arriving for any of our surf camps and surf retreats. It is always a great idea to increase your cardio, exercise and stretching a few months before your trip!

Can I add on additional activities?

We have a lot of additional activities that we can help you schedule into your vacation. Once you arrive on your adventure, we provide you with an itinerary to lay out the schedule for the week. If you would like to add on any activities at that time, our staff will help get those activities set up for you.

What is the weather like?

All of our surf camps are located in tropical destinations. All of the locations have beautiful warm water and you can expect the days to be hot. In any tropical location, there is always the chance of rain, and it is always a welcomed to cool off the hot days.

Do I need a wetsuit?

You will not need a wetsuit during your surf vacation. We do recommend a rash guard to protect your skin from the sun and cool you down. We have Chica Surf Adventure rash guards for sale in Costa Rica. Coming soon for Hawaii and Panama.

Do you have vegetarian or vegan food options?

Our chefs are excellent and we do provide specialized meal options. We will get your food requirements in advance so we can create the best options for you.

Do you offer kid friendly food?

For all of our Mother Daughter and Family Camps, we offer kid friendly food. We understand your little ones can be picky eaters or don’t always want to eat what the adults eat. Please let us know if your child will require any special food requirements, and as with all guests, our chefs will make any necessary changes to make sure you love what you eat! Our chefs cook to impress!

Is there Baby / Child Sitting Services available?

Throughout your family camp week – we can arrange to provide a babysitter for your young children or babies, should you need it to participate in activities or just decide to have time to relax. Please inquire :)

Do you assist in booking airfare?

Once you sign up for your trip, we send you detailed information on how to purchase the best airfare for your vacation. We are not a travel agent however we can assist you in selecting the best travel options based on our experience traveling to these locations.

Do you recommend travel insurance?

We definitely recommend Travel Insurance in case of flight delays, lost or stolen baggage, and especially for major medical insurance and airlift coverage for our international locations. You can easily find travel insurance online through companies like Allianz.

Where are you located?

The majority of our surf camps are located in Santa Teresa, Costa Rica. We also host surf retreats in Bocas del Toro, Panama and the Hawaiian Island of Oahu.

What Payments do you accept?

We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, Debit Cards, eChecks, and Bill Me Later payment plans.

We process all payments through PayPal. You do not need to have a PayPal account to make a purchase. Once you fill out your information on the sign up page, we will send you a payment link directly to your email.

Do you offer Payment Plans?

You have several options to reserve your surf camp vacation. We accept a 25% or 50% payment to secure your spot and make it easier for you to sign up. We require that the entire balance be paid in full 60 days prior to your surf camp start date. Let us know what works for you!

Take advantage and SAVE $100 by paying your balance in full all at once. Let us know you want to pay in full and we will include the $100 discount! (Applies to full price packages only).

All options are available on the sign up page. Select the payment structure you would like and we will send you a payment link to get you started.

ALSO: PayPal offers a Bill Me Later program for qualified applicants. You can apply to make monthly payments on your surf camp package over a select period of time which you determine. Request to pay the balance in full with us first. When we send you the link, select the Bill Me Later payment option and follow the links to qualify and set it up. We get paid directly, and you can pay the balance as you wish.

Rescheduling

 Rescheduling: Trips may ONLY be rescheduled 60+ days in advance for an additional $150 change fee. Trips must be rescheduled within one year of the original purchase date or be forfeited.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation Policy: We want to provide you with the best customer service, and we understand unavoidable situations occur, resulting in the cancellation of your trip. The following is our cancellation policy.

There is NO refund or partial refunds for any trips purchased through Daily Deal sites or purchased at a discount. These trips may be rescheduled within one year or must be forfeited.

There is also NO refund for arriving late or leaving early.

If you need to cancel your reservation 180 days prior to your surf camp date, you will be charged a 25% cancellation fee. 60-89 days prior: you will be changed a 50% cancellation fee. There are no cancellations or rescheduling with 59 days of your trip date. All refunds or partial refunds do not include merchant processing fees.

Cancellations NOT available for trips booked online through outside companies or purchased at a discount. Cancellations are also not available for discounted packages offered directly by Chica Surf Adventures.

There are no exceptions to our cancellation policy: Including but not limited to weather, personal emergencies, flight cancellations or delays. If Chica Surf Adventures has to cancel a surf camp for any reason, you may reschedule your week at no additional cost. However, we are not responsible for any flight changes or cancellations as a result. We highly recommend purchasing Travel Protection insurance through your travel agent or online for both travel related issues, trip cancellations and for travel emergency medical care.
